About Me
I am so glad you’re here!
I’m Barbara, and I’m so glad you found Plate43! I love cooking and creating recipes that are simple, delicious, and packed with nutrition. For me, making healthy food is near and dear to my heart. Ever since my mom was diagnosed with cancer when I was in high school and then my father when I was in college, the connection between what we eat, and our long-term health has been a passion of mine.
I went on to get a degree in Physical Education and Health from the College of Charleston, and now I’m excited to share with you the recipes I’ve been making for my two boys, husband of twenty years, and friends and family. Plate43 is all about living out my passion for healthy cooking and hopefully inspiring others to do the same.
Why Plate43? I was born in Canada and have lived in multiple cities across the United States. Now, my family and I are happily rooted in Charleston, South Carolina—area code 843! Not only am I inspired by our local adventures and flavors, but also by my travels. I’m a little bit obsessed with recreating meals I’ve had elsewhere and making them healthy as can be (and just as delicious). So, welcome to my neighborhood!
Look forward to recipes that are simple, healthful, and don’t require you to be in the kitchen all day long—because who has time for that? I’ll also be including wellness tips, my favorite kitchen essentials, weekly meal plans, and anything else I think you might find helpful or inspirational.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Cheers, Barbara
